a cohousing community
Meadow Wood is an intentional, collaborative neighborhood that combines private homes with shared indoor and outdoor spaces designed to support an active community life. This residential cohousing community is located in the Pacific Northwest — Bremerton, Washington — just across Puget Sound from Seattle.
With 25 residences on an expansive 7-acre property, Meadow Wood has a private, old-fashioned neighborhood atmosphere, promoting intergenerational relationships and lasting friendships between its residents.
With the active participation of residents in everything from grounds maintenance to governance, something interesting is always happening here. You can expect weekly potluck dinners, evening meetings, marshmallow roasts at the fire pit, spontaneous get togethers, and kids playing in the central courtyard.
In addition to scheduled monthly work parties, there are many ways to contribute to life here at Meadow Wood. Each resident determines the role they want to play in the community, depending on their personal interests and strengths.
Individual home ownership, the extensive grounds, and a diverse array of common-use amenities provide an environment conducive to maintaining private time as well. From curling up with a book in the library, to gardening, taking a walk through though the meadow to the woods, visiting Steele Creek, or simply retreating to your condo, Meadow Wood presents many opportunities for rest and renewal. Connection, environmental stewardship, security, and community support all draw neighbors to cohousing communities. We are greatly enriched by sharing our lives and interests with caring, collaborative neighbors.
